High resolution lenses for machine vision — standard and custom lens design

Fiber Optic Technology Enhances Endoscopic Procedures

High Resolution Lenses for machine vision, instrumentation, inspection and vibration-sensitive applications. Standard and custom hi-res lens assemblies.

Endoscopy is a medical procedure that incorporates a fiber optic light and a miniscule camera. In a medical procedure, the endoscopic device is inserted into the patient’s body through an incision. The camera inside the endoscopic device projects the image on a screen that the physician can view while performing the procedure.

During an endoscopic procedure the doctor is able to take biopsies if necessary. The medical staff performs the biopsy by slipping a cutting tool into the tube and removing the tissue. Endoscopies have helped to revolutionize the way medical procedures are performed and allow physicians to operate in a less invasive manner.

Breast augmentation, face-lifts, colonoscopies and tummy tucks are a few of the procedures made easier and less invasive through the use of an endoscope. Intracranial cysts, brain tumor removal, sinus and neurological surgery also benefit from the use of the tool. Additionally, laparoscopic surgery, performed in the stomach, colon, large intestine or pelvic region utilizes the same tool.

As with other surgeries there are risks associated with endoscopic procedures but they are typically fewer than with other procedures, and the advantage of this type of procedure typically outweighs the risks. Shortened procedure and recovery time and less pain for the patient are also reasons physicians utilize endoscopy.

Universe Kogaku’s Medical Imaging Lens assemblies include a standard offering of the most desired relay, 3 CCD relay, mounted and bare achromatic lenses. Applications include: Endoscope couplers, fiberscope couplers, diagnostic camera hand pieces, and medical X-ray scanning.
