Doctors and scientists use microscopes for variety of medical procedures and research. Many surgical procedures require not only a skilled physician to perform them, but the need to see the smallest details within the patient’s body during surgery. This requires the use of high resolution diagnostic and surgical microscopes as they assist surgeons in many delicate procedures. Delicate surgeries such as eye surgery and the reattachment of limbs would not be possible without microscopes to guide the process at the time of surgery.

The use of these highly technical microscopes are taking a more prominent role in myriad medical areas including diagnostics such as dentistry and ophthalmology; minimally invasive procedures and micro-surgery procedures that include plastic surgery, neurosurgery, spinal surgery and others. The microscopes the surgeons use to heighten intra-operative visualization methods include fluorescence based technologies. The fluorescence supplements the microscope itself allowing the surgeon to see the finest detail possible and this is a critical medical diagnostic tool as it relates to minimizing any residual risks of surgical procedures.

Also, many of these diagnostic microscopes are fitted with image capture technology which allows for the procedure from diagnostics to treatment to be documented for future analysis. The procedures are captured in video and transmitted to a computer for later review.
