Laser Technologies

Military officials understand that laser pointers are a welcome technology, especially during training exercises. Various branches of the military utilize the lasers, in smaller sizes whether they’re being used on rifles or hand-held spotting devices. Soldiers use green laser pointers an asset but the branch of military that is considering the purchase need to determine what laser pointer is best for their particular needs.

Here are a few questions to ask before making any final decisions on laser technology for your military branch:

  • What will the laser be used for? This is the most important question to answer. The different types of lasers are more suited to particular tasks than others. Green lasers at a 50mW are a viable option for a field of combat. These lasers are also indispensable when spotting troops stranded in hostile territory. Many of these can be mounted on a helicopter to locate and rescue troops.
  • Practicality counts, as military personnel know. Many laser pointers are similarly shaped, pen-shaped, but there are other laser designs. Small laser pointers are perfect for use on a rifle and can be up-sized to fit tanks or other military combat vehicles. The construction material of the laser also needs to be taken into consideration. Many of the military-grade lasers are made of aircraft aluminum or polished brass; these materials are lightweight and strong.
  • What type of, and how long lasting are, the batteries the laser you’re looking into? This is a crucial factor in the laser purchase as there are lasers that can be recharged through the use of a power source or a battery for recharging. For military personnel in the field, it is infinitely easier to replace a batter in a laser pointer than to find a source of electricity to recharge. Most laser pointers use easy-to-find batteries like AAA or AA, depending on the size of the laser.

As with all technologies, not everything is created equally and the military personnel in charge of the technologies will need to understand what the laser pointer of its choice will, and won’t, do. These pointers, as the manufacturer of laser diodes, Universe Technology, understand offer protection for military members and can also be used as an aggressive tool to intimidate enemies from afar. In some instances the correct laser technology can be the difference between life and death for a military member.
