For some people, looking up into the sky is more than a simple hobby and was a passion fueled by dreams of space travel and wanting to uncover the knowledge of the stars, planets and hidden universes? With the new technology of camera equipment that was developed to cater to both hobbyists and astronomers, it might be possible to see further than ever before.

A camera equipped with a CMOS sensor includes a “modified infrared filter and a low-noise sensor with heightened hydrogen-alpha sensitivity.” What this means in layman’s terms is that with the use of a 3-inch clear view LCD and a nine-point autofocus, the ability to capture clearer photos in the heavens is within reach. The technology will come with a price tag of close to $1,500, but for astrophotographers this may be a small price to pay.

The new DSLR camera offers a modified infrared filter and low noise sensor and offers heightened hydrogen-alpha sensitivity. The modifications in the camera allow it to capture and transmit photographs of “red hydrogen emission nebulae and other cosmic phenomena.” The CMOS sensor allows for the capture of photos of the solar system that is almost impossible to achieve with traditional cameras. The enhanced infrared blocking filter was created specifically with astronomers and astrophotographers in mind. The silent-shooting feature eliminates the shutter-induced vibration that most cameras suffer.
