X-Rray Technology

South Africa’s JSE and Toronto based miner Rockwell have announced they will be utilizing a unique technology to assist in their diamond mining process. The two diamond powerhouses have identified their intent to use x-ray technology to detect and find rarer diamonds in their mines. These x-ray systems are designed to penetrate deep into the rock wall of these diamond mines and fish out two especially rare diamonds. The new x-ray technology will give them a clear advantage over the standard pan plant technology that is most widely used across the globe.

X-ray technology is an amazing tool that has so many uses. Having the ability to literally see through tons of rock gives these miners a huge advantage over their competitors. Not only will this help them to find more diamond deposits but it will also help them to distinguish the rarest of diamonds from the rest of the more common ones. These medical imaging lens assemblies could result in better findings with less wasted work and in turn a better profit margin for the companies.

Although the new x-ray technology required a $1.5million investment these diamond mining companies are certain their investment will pay dividends in the end. They expect their revenue to rise drastically as they will have ability to find larger and rarer stones. As much as 80% of Rockwell’s revenue is earned from sales of diamonds larger than 10MM in diameter and this new x-ray technology fits that niche perfectly.
