High resolution lenses for machine vision — standard and custom lens design
Using Robot Vision To Decorate Cakes
High Resolution Lenses for machine vision, instrumentation, inspection and vibration-sensitive applications. Standard and custom hi-res lens assemblies.
Robot Vision
Technology and robot vision devices have many uses ranging from the high-tech to the medical field to cake decorating. Mitsubishi Electric and Quasar Automation that resulted in the manufacture of a 3D robotic vision system that can be adapted to unique shapes and surfaces of cakes have developed a new technology. The new process allows individual cakes to be decorated with precision and consistent accuracy, a boon in high level or high production bakery settings.
The robotic vision cake-decorating machine is a combination of 3D vision technology and multi-axis robots, which integrate the technology to decorate the baked goods.
How does it work?
The technology scans the cake’s surface with a camera that houses a laser and two lenses. The camera will scan the surface and the information collected calculates the path that the robot will take to dispense the cake icing. The robot is programmed with the particular design being requested on the final cake decoration. The manual application of icing and decoration to baked goods is a labor-intensive process and based on the vagaries of the human hand, may not be completely uniform. This process eliminates differences in the decorations and vastly speeds up the decorating process.
Universe Optics provides high Resolution Lenses for machine vision, instrumentation, inspection and vibration-sensitive applications for both standard and custom hi-res lens assemblies.
